News Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue accompanies athletes to the Olympics in Rio The Vice President, in charge of National Defence and State Security, travelled to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), leading the official delegation of Equatorial Guinea, integrated among others, by athletes participating in the Olympics. Upon arrival, he was received with military honours.


The trip of Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, to accompany the Equatoguinean athletes participating in the Olympic Games Rio 2016, follows the ratification of his appointment as Vice President, by the bicameral Parliament.

Approval was given by the votes in favour of the group of Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) and the Democratic Coalition. Specifically, the results of the vote were 118 in favour, 2 against and 0 abstentions.
