Sports Equatorial Guinea to hold 2019 African Games From 13th to 17th June, at the headquarters of the African Union (AU), in Addis Abeba (Ethiopia), the Second Ordinary Session of the Specialist Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports took place, at which the Equatorial Guinea candidacy to organise the 2019 African Games was approved.


Specifically, the Meeting of Experts took place on the 13th, 14th and 15th, and on the 16th and 17th it was the turn of the Ministerial Meeting.

Following various debates and an analysis of the Equatorial Guinea candidacy to hold the 2019 African Games, the proposal was finally approved unanimously.

During the Meeting of Experts they carried out a detailed analysis of the Equatoguinean candidacy, which was defended by a delegation made up of the Third Secretary from the Equatorial Guinea Embassy in Addis Abeba, José Cruz Bayeme Obono, supported by the ambassador in Ethiopia, Simeón Oyono Esono Angue, representing the Minister for Youth and Sports, Andrés Jorge Mbomio Nsem, who due to his schedule could not attend the forum.

Finally, at the Ministerial Meeting of the 16th, the report adopted by the experts was presented. The ministers also gave their approval and confirmed that the 2019 African Games will be held in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Furthermore, the transfer of flags took place to Equatorial Guinea from Congo-Brazzaville, where the latest edition of the continental competition was held.
