The Government of Equatorial Guinea informs for national and international awareness that, around twelve noon on Thursday, the Honorable Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó, Minister of Labor and Social Security passed away in this capital, as a result of a myocardial infarction. This tragic and sudden death has dismayed the Government and the entire Nation, since it deals with an Equatorial Guinean dignitary who has successively held the high offices of: Director-General; Secretary of State and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy; Minister of Finance and Budgets; Minister of Parliamentary Relations; Prime Minister Head of Government; Adviser to the Presidency and Minister of Labor and Social Security.

The Honorable Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó was also a Representative in the  House of People's Representatives; Member of the National Council and Chairman of the Monitoring Committee in the District of Baney for the PDGE, and was awarded various national decorations.

Death surprised the Honorable Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó while performing his duties. It should be noted that the Honorable Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó had been suffering from diabetes and hypertension, diseases that caused renal insufficiency that resulted in a kidney transplant and, as a consequence of this clinical condition, he has suffered various crises, such as the one that ended his life.

The Government, profoundly dismayed by this irreparable loss, expresses its condolences to the bereaved family.
