The fact that all the concertgoers sang word for word the choruses of his songs, in perfect Spanish, surprised the great singer Julio Iglesias, whose concert at the Sipopo Conference Center was a resounding success.

The artist, after arriving in Equatorial Guinea, acknowledged his surprise at the level of development of the city of Malabo, and at the image that he found in the country, so different from the one the international media often show. In fact, in his words to the public, Iglesias encouraged Spain and the Spanish people to support and get better acquainted with Equatorial Guinea, as a sister and friend country, where the Spanish culture and language are still prevalent. He even expressed his regret for not coming sooner to sing in this African land, in which he has thousands of followers.

The concert was also attended by the Head of State, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, along with the First Lady and their son, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, who was one of the sponsors of this concert.
